Ted Lindsay Foundation Courage Awards

The Courage Awards annually recognize a person and their family who has been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and demonstrates great character and perseverance in living with the challenges of this disorder.

There will be two awards presented. One will recognize an individual, sponsored by Susan V. Swider and Oakland MRI. The other will acknowledge the individual and their family, sponsored by Dr. Lucia Zamorano and Michigan Brain & Spine Surgery Center. The award will be presented to the winners at the annual Ted Lindsay Foundation Celebrity Golf Outing on Monday September 12, 2022 at Detroit Golf Club, Detroit, MI.

Ted Lindsay Foundation support research and educational programs focusing on the cause and management of Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Dinner Presentation Agenda:

  • 6:30 pm: Introduction
  • 6:40 pm: Dr. Baisa presents “An Innovative & Personalized Approach to Pain Management”.
  • 7:40 pm: Dr. Ron Lederman discusses his exclusive treatment using MLS Laser Therapy. Different from current laser therapies, MLS Laser Therapy works at a cellular level using a combination of laser emissions, simultaneously decreasing swelling and pain and accelerates the healing process. MLS Laser Therapy treats neck pain to foot pain and conditions in between, including back pain, tendonitis, disc injuries, tennis and golf elbow, traumatic injuries and speeds healing after surgery.
  • 7:50pm – Dr. Lucia Zamorano provides information on her use of the cutting edge robotics system for spine surgery. The Mazor Robotics Renaissance Guidance System is exclusively available at the Michigan Surgical Hospital. Dr. Zamorano utilizes the system’s unparalleled accuracy to advance surgical procedures, such as minimally-invasive fusions for degenerative disc diseases or deformity, kyphoplasty/vertebraplasty, and also performing groundbreaking work to combine the robotics system with endoscopic discectomies – the most minimally-invasive surgical intervention available.

24th Annual Nightingale Awards for Nursing Excellence 2012

The 24th Annual Nightingale Awards for Nursing Excellence 2012 honoring exemplary nurses and nursing care since 1988.

On May 10, the San Marino Club in Troy hosted the 24th Annual Nightingale Awards for Nursing Excellence to publicly recognize contributions of remarkable nurses. The even supported Oakland University’s School of Nursing.

The tradition of honoring Michigan’s top nurses began 24 years ago, at the urging of Maggie Allesee, an Oakland University School of Nursing long-term Board of Visitors member and philanthropist. The first year, honorees were selected by placing the names of potential winners in a hat. This process has been honed, and today a committee of nearly a dozen nurse leaders within the community read and score more than 100 nominations.

Hundreds of hard-working, heroic, and honorable nurses from around Michigan, Ohio, and Canada have been lauded at the Nightingale Awards for Nursing Excellence.

Proceeds from the event, referred to as the Academy Awards of Nursing, benefit students through scholarships and faculty through research support, and they ensure that nursing education remains on the cutting edge — which will improve the lives and safety of the patients and their families with whom nurses work.

New this year, Hour Detroit magazine will be the media sponsor of the event and will also sponsor the People’s Choice Award. With Hour Detroit’s sponsorship, the presentation of this award will vary slightly from the other award categories. For the People’s Choice Award, the selection committee will select the top three honorees and the winner will be announced at the Nightingale event, rather than ahead of time. We are excited about our partnership with Hour Detroit magazine.
